How pregnant sometimes his replies are…

I saw this photo:

The Rich Family

and had a lot to say; hope there is value here for you if you endure it:

[or read my short answer instead: it seems cruel and cold-hearted for a family that God created, who were put here to care for the animals, and after WE fell, and were allowed to eat them – in our fallen world where animals are predators and prey – to hunt down, kill, and gloat over a kill of an innocent animal that was eating its meal; and was not needed for food for this family; after all, who does that?]

Buckle-up and dig in:

God said we are of more value than many sparrows, but he gave us stewardship over the Earth.  I think that as part of our creation, animals, creations of God, are very special; and animals love, so if we need food to eat, I understand that we are OK to use them for that; Genesis says that it is OK to eat animals for food:

9 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. 2 The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth and upon every bird of the heavens, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea. Into your hand they are delivered. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. 4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. 5 And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.

BUT IT WAS NOT SO AT THE BEGINNING WITH THE ANIMALS:

Genesis 1:

21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

BUT BECAUSE OF THE FALL:

3 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

AND WE ALL DIED SPIRITUALLY (FROM A SUBTLE LIE; OF IMPLICATION, NOT OF FACTS: SATAN WAS CASTING DOUBT ON GOD)

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

IT IS NOT A GOOD THING TO HAVE UNWIELDY KNOWLEDGE:

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

SO SHE STEPPED BEYOND HER WHEELHOUSE OR ROLE; SHE TOOK INITIATIVE THAT WAS AND DISASTROUS, BY DOUBTING GOD’S PROPERLY MOTIVATED, PROTECTIVE WORDS, SO THE CONSEQUENCES WERE METED OUT (LOVE AND FORGIVENESS SELDOM NEGATE CONSEQUENCES)

16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

BUT ADAM WAS PASSIVE; HE DID NOT STOP HER, SO HE STEPPED OUT OF HIS WHEELHOUSE BY ABDICATING HIS RESPONSIBILITY TO UPHOLD THE TRUTH OF GOD’S WORDS TO THEM BOTH:

17 And unto Adam he said, BECAUSE THOU HAST HARKENED UNTO THE VOICE OF THY WIFE, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

If we are in doubt as to the difference between man and woman (always different, but THESE differences have been present since after the fall) , it is clear that:

  1. Man is to rule over woman
    1. 16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
      1. and when Christ had come to save us, there was reason, clarity, & fruition: (fruition particularly on His soon return)
    2. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body
  1. Man and woman are to submit to each other in marriage
    1. Ephesians 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
      1. and that is also a means to sanctification:
        1. First Corinthians 7:4 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.
  1. A man is called to love his wife and a wife is called to submit to and respect her husband
    1. Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it
    2. 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
    3. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body
      1. and note that: There is (eternal) enmity between the fallen angel (Lucifer) and mankind; and that Satan is the chief provocateur in placing and maintaining a wedge between the man and the woman; indeed, between all mankind; why? Lucifer was jealous of God (his creator, by the way; God created all things through (God, the Son) Jesus Christ (John 1:1); he rebelled, as he wanted to be like the Most High God; he instigated an issue between man and woman and God when he tempted Eve; Eve was rash to listen to him and do his bidding: casting doubt on God’s love for and watchcare over them, implying God was keeping something good from them, when He was protecting them from knowledge they could not handle (the knowledge of good and evil). If you doubt this, but for some reason, trust the (absolute) veracity of The Bible, read this:

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

and if you do not believe The Bible, look around you in the world.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

MAN NEEDS WOMAN (to be his woman, not for her to be a man)

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

SO, AFTER THE FALL:

7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

SO, IN GENESIS 3:

21 Adonai, God, made garments of SKIN for Adam and his wife and clothed them.

SO, WHILE I sometimes feel drawn to be a vegetarian; and may understand vegetarians and Romans 14,

I know that God said it is OK to eat meat (and we’ll not likely be eating animals in heaven; there will be things even better than a well prepared steak, or a wonderful sauteed vegetable), according to Genesis 9, BUT,  it was not so at the beginning, and it was the fall of man that changed things; and I believe there will be animals in Heaven…

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

But that verse seems to say that man in his flesh is no different from animals.  Suffice it to say that it seems cruel and cold-hearted for a family that God created, who were put here to care for the animals, and after WE fell, and were allowed to eat them in our fallen world where animals are predators and prey, to hunt down, kill, and gloat over a kill of an innocent animal that was eating its meal; and was not needed for food for this family; after all, who does that?

But here is Matthew Henry on what is behind all that:

  1. Unity or concord, which is intimated in these figurative promises, that even the wolf shall dwell peaceably with the lamb; men of the most fierce and furious dispositions, who used to bite and devour all about them, shall have their temper so strangely altered by the efficacy of the gospel and grace of Christ that they shall live in love even with the weakest and such as formerly they would have made an easy prey of. So far shall the sheep be from hurting one another, as sometimes they have done (Ezek. 34:20, 21), that even the wolves shall agree with them. Christ, who is our peace, came to slay all enmities and to settle lasting friendships among his followers, particularly between Jews and Gentiles: when multitudes of both, being converted to the faith of Christ, united in one sheep-fold, then the wolf and the lamb dwelt together; the wolf did not so much as threaten the lamb, nor was the lamb afraid of the wolf. The leopard shall not only not tear the kid, but shall lie down with her: even their young ones shall lie down together, and shall be trained up in a blessed amity, in order to the perpetuating of it. The lion shall cease to be ravenous and shall eat straw like the ox, as some think all the beasts of prey did before the fall. The asp and the cockatrice shall cease to be venomous, so that parents shall let their children play with them and put their hands among them. A generation of vipers shall become a seed of saints, and the old complaint of homo homini lupus—man is a wolf to man, shall be at an end. Those that inhabit the holy mountain shall live as amicably as the creatures did that were with Noah in the ark, and it shall be a means of their preservation, for they shall not hurt nor destroy one another as they have done. Now, (1.) This is fulfilled in the wonderful effect of the gospel upon the minds of those that sincerely embrace it; it changes the nature, and makes those that trampled on the meek of the earth, not only meek like them, but affectionate towards them. When Paul, who had persecuted the saints, joined himself to them, then the wolf dwelt with the lamb

and Mr. Henry continues here:

Lastly, Observe what shall be the effect, and what the cause, of this wonderful softening and sweetening of men’s tempers by the grace of God. 1. The effect of it shall be tractableness, and a willingness to receive instruction: A little child shall lead those who formerly scorned to be controlled by the strongest man. Calvin understands it of their willing submission to the ministers of Christ, who are to instruct with meekness and not to use any coercive power, but to be as little children, Matt. 18:3.

and truly, this is what I need, so I must take heed of it and temper myself in Him, for I often rail, ’til He notes:
Matthew 10:30-32 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear ye not, therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows.
32 (indicating that) “Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father who is in Heaven.
John 14:6 (CJB)
6 Yeshua said, (and stipulating) “I AM the Way — and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me.  Matthew 11:28 Complete Jewish Bible
(continuing with) 28 “Come to me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.[a] 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
John 6:37 New King James Version (NKJV)
37 (And) All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
